Peas, Please!

Blair has gained some pretty impressive skills over the past few weeks, especially in the hand-eye coordination department. She likes to "help" alot at feeding time. She tries to help hold her bottle, but usually manages to push it right out of her mouth then look up at the person feeding her as if to say "I am trying to eat here! Would you please stop taking my bottle away?!?" And dinner time, which is when she gets her "real" food, is especially fun. We've finally learned that solid food is best when eaten naked (except for the diaper of course...don't want any code browns in the booster seat). And it is especially wise to eat solid food before bath time. Here's how it usually goes down:

Spoon reaches mouth. Fingers immediately go into mouth to assist in gumming down the food (peas, in this case).

In between bites, the hand that went into the mouth last then rubs eyes, nose, mouth, ears and anywhere else it has time to explore...making for a very colorful face. I wonder how much people would pay for this new, miraculous pea-face mask?

And when we reach the bottom of the jar of food, heaven help us. It is a tragedy beyond Blair's comprehension. And on top of it all, mommy has the nerve to wipe the extra peas she was saving for later off her face. To say that she gets a little upset is an understatement.

Did I mention that I haven't been able to eat peas since the first time I changed Blair's diaper after she ate peas?
