Hello? Hello? Does this thing still work?

Perhaps when you have to dust off your keyboard, you may have waited a bit too long to update your blog. Sorry - life has sort of gotten crazier than normal lately. I have lots of updates, so I'll try to organize them as best as I can, 'cause I'm anal like that.

Traveling
Brian and I went to Las Vegas for my company's big annual conference. Yes, I said Brian and I...Blair didn't go. An asthmatic baby in Vegas? I didn't think it would make for a good combination. We drove to Mississippi and met my mom at my Aunt Cathy's, who then drove Blair to her house in Louisiana. We tried something new this time - we waited until Blair's bedtime to make the trip. It worked pretty well! She fell asleep almost immediately, but before we crossed the Alabama line she started screaming. She verbally expressed her displeasure for about an hour, but then fell back asleep and we actually made it in 6 hours! She did fine for mom's 3 hour trip too.

The first two nights we were there, well, maybe I should preface this by saying that I don't think I'll run for Mom of the Year this year...because the first two nights were nice! No responsibility (other than work), no risk of our teething baby waking up at some point, no bottles to wash, it was nice. But then, by the third night, I started feeling it. And by the fourth night, my arms and chest actually ached for her. And the fifth night, well I didn't get much sleep because I was so excited about seeing Blair the next day.

How was Vegas? Hot. The temperature topped 112 two days in a row. And that whole thing about it being a "dry heat?" Well, it was still 112 degrees. And no matter what you say, 112 degrees is HOT! We had fun - Brian gambled a lot, I worked a lot, we both ate a lot, and we went to see the new Batman movie on IMAX. I fully support Heath Ledger winning an Oscar - he was creepy in that movie! We never left the resort, and by the fifth day I was going a little stir crazy. We were going to drive over to Hoover Dam, but there were no rental cars available so we lazed around some more. Two days in Vegas is all you need to get your fill of it.
