Dieting sucks

'Nuff said. I have always been lucky in that I never really had to diet. Then, when I got pregnant with Blair, I ate everything and anything I wanted...and blamed it on my poor unborn child.

"The baby really wants the snickers bar and the butterfinger crisp." This was my rationalization.

Then Blair was born (I'm actually a tiny bit shocked that she didn't have chocolate running through her veins, poor thing) and we started breastfeeding. Again, I started with the crazy rationalizations. "Blair should really have a taste of that chocolate milk shake, and I do need the calcium."

All this was fine and dandy until I stopped breastfeeding. It was then, however, that apparently my metabolism completely shut down. I think I may have actually killed it with my "see-how-much-fattening-stuff-you-can-eat-every-day" pregnancy and breastfeeding diet. Why did no one tell me this would happen?!? Seriously - I got to within 4 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight. Now, well let's just say that I look forward to the day when I'm back to within 4 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight.

So, here I am. Dieting. Why is it that when you diet all you can think about is food? And I swear...exercising makes it worse. I'm going to breastfeed my next child until he/she is in high school!

Amen! Sister. I totally agree with you. Don't give up. Your body is still changing after the birth. Just think if she had been full term. Think 10-15 lbs heavier.......
