Brian is at Shellman's Bluff this week working on the summer house, or fishing...I really think he's probably doing more fishing than working...not that I'm bitter or anything because I know he does double duty more often than I do because of my work travels. But I did giggle a little when he told me that it was a spring tide because of the new moon and the fishing was terrible. :)
So anyway, I'm a single mom this week. He left on Sunday afternoon, and it is now only Tuesday. I. Am. Exhausted. Seriously - only two nights down - I have three more to go! Don't get me wrong, Blair is being her normal sweet self. But let me describe my night last night...just so you know that I'm not being a complete wuss.
5:00 - Leave work, stop by grocery store (no wine in my cart this time).
5:45 - Pick Blair up from daycare.
6:00 - Stop by pharmacy to pick up the Boog's medicine.
6:30 - Arrive at home - the Boog is passed out in her seat, so I seize the opportunity to unload
the car while she's sleeping.
6:40 - Get Blair out of car (don't worry - the car was running with the AC on the whole time).
6:42 - Put the Boog in her walker and put lots of puffs on her tray to keep her busy while mommy scarfs down some dinner.
6:45 - Move the Boog from the walker to her booster seat.
6:46 - Mix her medicine in with her food while she screams at me for taking so long.
6:55 - After she's downed two huge containers of baby food, I move her to the living room to play while I get her bath ready.
6:58 - Put her in the tub.
7:08 - Get her out of the tub and put her jammies on.
7:12 - Move from nursery to kitchen, put the Boog back in the walker with more puffs to entertain her while I get her other medicine and bottle ready.
7:15 - Move from kitchen to rocker/recliner in den while she's screaming at me because I took so long to get her bottle ready.
7:25 - Daddy calls and seems surprised that the Boog isn't in bed already. I may have called him an ugly name and hung up on him.
7:40 - Boog is obviously so sleepy she can barely hold her eyes open, but she has the wiggles. I put her in her crib to wiggle it out while I tried to clean the kitchen.
7:50 - Clean dishes are out of the dishwasher, half the new dirty ones are in the dishwasher. Blair is screaming.
7:51 - I move back to the nursery and discover why she's screaming - she spit up and is wallowing around in it.
7:52 - Put new jammies on the Boog and let her play in the floor while mommy changes the sheet in her crib.
7:55 - Just as mommy ties the last of the 500 ties on the bumper pad, the Boog starts grunting and turning red.
7:56 - New sheet on, bumper pad on, put the Boog on the changing table for a new diaper.
7:58 - Still wrestling with the Boog to try to get the new diaper on. She likes to try to roll over onto her tummy when we change her diapers now - it is hysterical. Really - a riot.
7:59 - Sit in rocking chair with Blair to try to get her to sleep now that she's gotten her second wind and is ready to play.
8:08 - Resort to holding the Boog as tightly as possible in the sleeper hold so she'll stop wiggling long enough to actually fall asleep.
8:10 - I'm able to relax the sleeper hold a little bit. Nope, wait, she's back up.
8:15 - Lay Blair in the crib, turn off lamp, trip over Daisy, say a dirty word as quietly as possible and go back to the den.
8:17 - Finish cleaning the kitchen. Pour a well-deserved glass of mommy juice. Note that I need to fill that empty slot on the wine rack.
8:20 - Call the daddy back and inform him that his daughter is ready for him to come home. Now. He says there is more work to do on the summer house than he expected and that he probably won't be home until Friday.
8:35 - More mommy juice.
5:30 - The *@#$ alarm goes off. It's time to do it all again.
The next time that I meet a real live single mom, I am going to bow down at her feet. I don't know how they do it!
